The quote from the RNC Chair in this article got me thinking. We all know there has been an increased focus on election integrity. And right here in CT there have been plenty of incidents of criminal behavior, both proven, and under investigation.
We've seen a conviction on absentee ballot fraud in Stamford.
We've seen criminal indictments in Bridgeport for crimes in 2019, and it looks like "Wanda the Ballot Stuffer" will be indicted for her 2023 actions as well as 2019.
The difficulty is that the focus on these crimes may deter law-abiding voters from casting their ballot because they feel the system is rigged.
So many races are very close. As current Republican National Committee Chair said: "If 1% of the public doesn’t believe in the sanctity of the election and stay home, we will lose."
Please, even if you have concerns about election integrity, do not let it deter you from voting. There are far too many things that are right about our election process to let concern for bad actor stop you from voting. This is no different than the reaction we all had after 9/11. Terrorists win if you stay home in fear. The same thing can be said if you don't vote because of concern about the what the bad guy may be trying.
